Born into a rare life of privilege for the belocian people, Verta might have had the wealth and the care to be placed in decent schooling. However, she did all this without the care and love of a mother who she was told was looking very forward to having her. Verta’s mother died during childbirth, and while Verta grew up content in her father’s care, she did always take time to think on all the stories that her father shared about how generous, kind, intelligent, and creative her mother was -- that the Devonici Ley Lines company would be nothing without her guidance in the beginning.
Verta took much of this to heart, and knowing that her mother was out of the picture meant that her father was working twice as hard to make sure that the company was running, and that Verta was well enough cared for. As she grew, Verta excelled in science and magical engineering studies to be able to provide any thoughts and plans for the best of Devonici Ley Lines and Sanctum as a whole.
Rare occasions would crop up where Verta’s father recognised the effort and innovation that Verta brought to the table. In her later years of schooling, Verta often was happy to show off what she has learned as well as detail how the power grid can expand. Not only this, but Verta would soon help develop the magical barrier that protects the capital of Sanctum and surrounding cities and towns from sea and air raids and creatures.
Unfortunately, before Verta could throw this into action, her father would come down with an unusual sickness brought on by poisoning -- as it was later found out. Staying with her father as he struggled against the poisoning, Verta listened to the ramblings of a man who harboured too many regrets to count, and not enough time to make up for them. One thing was true, and would remain as such: he loved his daughter, and wanted only the best for her.
After Verta’s father passed away, Verta merely held onto the papers that showed the Devonici Ley Lines company having been signed off to her. Electing her father’s second-in-command at the time to oversee the business til Verta finished her schooling, Verta entrusted the company to a man that her father trusted and even said to trust before passing away a few days after imparting all he could. Tyrilis Valcant -- another belocian man who had been with Verta’s father since before he met her mother.
Once Verta finished her schooling, got her Master’s for mana engineering and science, she returned to take the company wholly while running several meetings and establishing roles with Tyrilis with much deliberation on their parts. With Verta taking the mantle of CEO, she appointed Tyrilis as the CFO, and an orcan woman by the name of Berkil Thrush as COO. Where Tyrilis sometimes disapproves of Verta’s methods and vocalises them, he admits that her innovation is what is likely keeping the company afloat with the automation that is only activated when short staffed.
In the years that Verta has overseen Devonici Ley Lines, she has run into her own scandals and her own troubles with media. However, after a certain point, she has learned to just roll with it and take it in stride while expressing her sincere desires for how Devonici shall look out for all of Sanctum to make it the people’s sanctuary so long as the government permits. Though she recognises the negative spin that the public takes with her, Verta has learned to let it roll off her back while still having her own fun where it is needed in her life.
Recently, Verta had a rather public relationship with a middle-class iliean man. Though it looked like the two of them were hitting it off and had something good there, it was later revealed to Verta that he was in it solely to have a stake in her funds as well as have a share of her company if everything were to work out. Silently processing this information, the next time that the media had its eyes on Verta, she publicly announced her separation from this iliean man after their relationship of three years. Though she spoke no ill of this man, she made plenty sure that everyone knew that she was going to announce this break up with a smile.
